The short answer
Whether a Hollywood building's first milestone inspection comes at 25 or 30 years is a local decision under s. 553.899(3)(b), based on circumstances such as proximity to salt water. Hollywood inspects buildings at 25 years and every 10 years after, under its 25-Year or Older Building Safety Program. Hollywood's page gives 90 days from the notice to complete the inspection.

25 or 30 years in Hollywood

- The city issues a Notice of Required Inspection, and its page gives the owner 90 days from receiving it to complete the inspection, shorter than the 180 days in BORA's policy text, so work to the date on your notice.
- Broward County, which includes Hollywood, reported 155 required Phase 2 milestone inspections in 2025.
How we handle the 25-year coastal rule in Hollywood
Hollywood's beachfront and Intracoastal towers meet the state milestone law through the Broward program, which starts at 25 years. The detail to watch is the clock. The city's page gives 90 days from the Notice of Required Inspection, so we book the engineer as soon as the letter arrives rather than planning on the 180 days quoted elsewhere in Broward.[1][2]

What changed in 2023?
SB 4-D (2022) made 25 years automatic for buildings within 3 miles of a coastline. SB 154 (2023) replaced that with the local enforcement agency's decision based on local circumstances such as proximity to salt water. Many guides, and some search answers, still quote the old automatic rule.[7][5][4]

Frequently asked questions
Is Hollywood on a 25-year or a 30-year schedule?
Hollywood runs the 25-Year or Older Building Safety Program under Broward County's administrative provisions and BORA guidelines. Buildings are inspected at 25 years and at 10-year intervals after that, whether they face the beach or sit inland. Your notice letter is the deciding document if anything on a website differs.
Is it 25 or 40 years in Hollywood?
The program started as Broward's 40-year program in 2005. The city now titles it the 25-Year or Older Building Safety Program and inspects buildings at 25 years and every 10 years after.
How long do we have after a Hollywood notice?
The city's page gives 90 days from receiving the Notice of Required Inspection to complete the inspection. Follow the date on your notice.
