The short answer

Boca Raton adopted its own Building Recertification Inspection Program in Ordinance 5589 on 24 August 2021, before the state milestone law. It covers condo and co-op buildings 3 stories or 50 feet or more, counting uninhabitable stories such as underground parking, at 30 years or 25 years within 3 miles of the coast, with a $500 fee per recertification (City of Boca Raton).

Frequently asked questions

Does a two-story building over a parking garage count in Boca Raton?

Boca's program counts uninhabitable stories such as underground parking when deciding whether a building is 3 stories or 50 feet, so it may be covered even if the state law would not count those levels.

Where can we see when our building is due?

The city publishes a recertification schedule for 2027 to 2031 on its program page.
